AUS-W vs USA-W: The Matildas will be trading tackles for the Bronze medal match against USA Women.
The Matildas had faced Sweden in their Semi-Final clash. It was a tough first half as neither of the teams succeeded in getting the lead early on. It was a little too early to comment as a minute into the second half, Fridolina Rolfo scored a brilliant goal to keep Sweden in front.
That goal had kept the Matildas under immense pressure and eventually, they lost control and even lost Ellie Carpenter to a red card in desperation for a chance at goal. However, a 1-0 loss knocked the Australians out of the competition while Sweden walked happily with a shot at the Olympic Gold.
The USA on the other hand was playing Canada in their Semi-Final clash. The first half was an interesting one with both the teams playing aggressively against each other. It was not until the 75th minute that either team got the sign of success.
A penalty was awarded to Canada and was easily converted by Jessie Fleming which kept Canada in front, minutes before the match ended. It turned out to be the only & winning goal as the USA bid adieu to their hopes of a Gold.
