Australia and South Africa will take on the second game of the ongoing series. It will be the iconic Boxing Day Test at the MCG. Here, we look at the pitch report of the Melbourne Cricket Ground and the weather conditions in Melbourne for AUS vs RSA 2022.
South Africa hardly put up a fight in the first game. The Aussies, as expected, were dominant. Therefore, the visitors will look to improve their show in the second game. They would most importantly need their batters to do well. The bowlers actually were decent in the first game as they did not allow the likes of Marnus Labuschagne or Steve Smith to score big.
In the context of the World Test Championship, too, South Africa will be desperate for a win. If they lose, they would further lose the chance to be a part of the finals. Australia would cement its place at the top while India would also get an advantage.

Having hosted its first game way back in 1877, MCG will host its 115th game on Monday. Teams batting first have won 56 games while the chasing team has won 41 games at this venue, so far. This is a clear indication of what captains might choose after winning the toss.
The average score batting first here is 307. The lowest team innings recorded here is 36 by South Africa in 1932. The Proteas will want to avoid such an occurrence this time around.

On Days 1, 3 & 5, rainfall is expected in Melbourne. Especially on Day 1, scattered thunderstorms are expected. Fans will not be happy with this news.
