Ashes 2023: “What a load of junk,” Michael Clarke Slams England for their short boundaries ploy for the Ashes

Ashes 2023 will begin from 16th June.

Former Australian cricketer Micheal Clarke slammed England for their short boundary ploy for the Ashes 2023. He said that he’s a load of junks and taunted them, saying that Australian grounds are twice the size of England ground but it won’t affect them as both the teams will have to bat.

England likely to have short boundaries for the Ashes to negotiate the threat of mishits

The greatest rivalry in cricket is back. Ashes 2023 is just around the corner and the two biggest rivals England and Australia will be up against each other in the five-match Test series. The first match will begin from 16th June in Edgbaston, which will be followed by the second game on 28th June at Lord’s.

The third game will be played on July 6th in Leeds whereas the last two games are slated to take place on July 19th and July 27th on Manchester and the Oval respectively.

England has been playing an aggressive brand of cricket since the time, Ben Stokes took over the captaincy and are yet to lose a series. It is expected that they will come with a similar mindset in the Ashes as well.

In the process of taking the bowlers to the cleaners they have got out several times and to negotiate this threat a UK newspaper reported England officials are eager to keep shorter boundaries so that they can score faster while also decreasing the risk of dismissal from mis-hits.

As per the ICC rules, boundaries must be between 59 metres and 82 metres from the centre of the wicket, with the host board and ground staff determining the placement of the rope. Although there’s no official confirmation but it is likely that we will see shorter boundaries this ashes.

Ashes 2023: “What a load of junk,” Michael Clarke Slams England for their short boundaries ploy for the Ashes

The reports of England likely to have short boundaries for the Ashes to negotiate the threat of mis hits, didn’t go well with Michael Clarke, who slammed the English team, saying that Australia too will bat and it won’t bother them. Speaking to Sky Sports Radio’s Big Sports Breakfast, he said:

“What a load of junk. Australian grounds are twice the size of England grounds anyway. That’s why there’s less sixes from the Australian players. Bat at the MCG you’ve got 90m boundaries, bat in England you’ve got 60m boundaries. Who cares? Both teams have got to bat,”

The last time Australia and England locked horns in Tests, it saw the Aussies thumping the English team by the margin of 4-0 in the five-match series.
