“Always wanted her in CSK but we never made it into WPL”, Twitter reacts as Harmanpreet Kaur plays a brilliant knock in the first WPL game

The first Women’s Premier League game is between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants. MI made a splendid start to the tournament with a top batting display. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur was in good form for the team. Here, we take a look at how Twitter reacted as Harmanpreet Kaur plays a brilliant knock in the first WPL game.

Harmanpreet Kaur starts off with a solid knock in the first WPL game

Although MI started slow, Hayley Matthews and Nat Sciver-Brunt gave a good foundation for the team. The West Indian all-rounder hit four sixes to make 47 runs in 31 deliveries. After she got out, it was the turn of Harmanpreet Kaur to blast her way to the first fifty in the history of WPL. She struck 14 boundaries in her innings and interestingly, she got out for 65 runs. She essentially got the bulk of runs through boundaries.

Harmanpreet Kaur showed exactly why she is one of the most dangerous batters in world cricket. She did not let Gujarat off the hook with some continuous boundaries. It was a sensational knock and much needed too. WPL needed a start just like the IPL had with the century by Brendon McCullum back in 2008. Yes, it was not a century but Harmanpreet had a similar impact with the inning on Saturday.

It was just a few days ago that the Indian skipper was under pressure. However, she had a great game in the semis of the T20 World Cup and it seems she has returned back to her disastrous best.

Twitter was really happy with the way Harmanpreet Kaur turned up in the first encounter. Considering she has been in poor form in the last few months, it has been a brilliant comeback by her, so far. On that note, here is how Twitter reacted to the brilliant knock:
