The wrestling world was deeply saddened to learn about the sudden demise of WWE Legend and the father of current WWE megastar Roman Reigns, Sika Anoa’i. He passed away on June 25th at the age of 79, leaving behind a rich legacy that has made a huge impact.
The heartbreaking news was shared on Instagram by Sika’s nephew, Jahrus Anoa’i. He paid a beautiful tribute to his uncle, describing Sika as a dedicated father, caring brother, supportive uncle, and proud grandfather who had a major influence on the lives of everyone he met.
Much like him, the entire wrestling world poured out heartfelt tributes in honour of the Wild Samoan, even including one member of his family who has not had the best relationship with his son, Roman Reigns, in the past year.

Alongside the entire wrestling community, many members of the Sika family also poured their hearts out about his influence on their lives. This included Main Event Jey Uso, who also reposted WWE’s official announcement on Instagram and even posted a picture of him making the iconic “The One” sign in memory of Sika.

Sika and his brother Afa became known as the renowned tag team, The Wild Samoans making their WWE debut in 1979. Under the management of Captain Lou Albano, they ascended to the top as a popular team and became WWE tag team champions. Following their first run, they achieved considerable success in Mid-South Wrestling, becoming the Mid-South Tag Team Championship multiple times. Moreover, they would return to WWE in 1983 and capture the WWE tag titles on two more occasions.
In 2007, Sika, alongside Afa were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. As the wrestling industry continues to mourn the loss of Sika Anoa’i, Roman Reigns’ father’s legacy as a pioneer and mentor will forever be a part of history, to inspire countless individuals to follow in his footsteps.
