The number of storyline changes we have seen ahead of WrestleMania has been countless. However, the latest year’s WrestleMania whose story has been in the making for years now, will be seeing Roman Reigns take on the American Nightmare, Cody Rhodes. Well, this was also the story a year ago but somehow Roman survived. However, with the introduction of the Rock, something magical is expected to take place.
Last week’s WrestleMania XL press conference is what completely changed the dynamics. When the Rock chose to join Roman and not fight him, Cody stepped up and chose Roman Reigns as his competitor. With that being said, what followed suit was frenzy from hell.
The Rock was disappointed with Cody and went onto slap him. Even when Triple H said that the Brahma Bull was way out of his line, things went heated and the Rock threatened Hunter that he can be way worse. This happened on the heel of the fans going ballistic after it was announced by Cody that Roman Reigns was going to take on the Rock.
Here is what the Rock had to say about WrestleMania XL
This was one story where the crowd wanted Cody and with the inclusion of Rock in his place, that was kind of an insult to the unparalleled legacy of the Rhodes family.
The Rock recently broke character to reveal what exactly went down between him and the audience and what instigated him in changing the storyline in the last moments.
In an interview with E! News, the Rock said, “WrestleMania, year over year, continues to get better and better, and bigger and bigger. So, the goal with me coming back to WWE, there were a few components to it. Number one and most importantly, what can we create for fans that is going to be interesting, and then, can we possibly create the biggest WrestleMania event of all time? The biggest match of all time between myself and Roman Reigns.”
