These days, declining contral contracts has become a trend. With so many T20 leagues happening, it makes better sense for these cricketers to secure themselves financially by playing in these tournaments. Interesting, the owners of IPL franchises own teams in various other leagues. A few foreigners feature for these owners across multiple tournaments. A few more Kiwis could join this list after the likes of Trent Boult. On that note, here, we take a look at two Kiwis who declined central contracts for 2024/25 and could be regulars in IPL owners’ T20 teams.

1) Lockie Ferguson

It is interesting to note that Lockie Ferguson has denied a central contract for the upcoming season. He is one of the best pacers in New Zealand and also did well for the team in the recent T20 World Cup. Lockie will still be a part of the side but the board will not have control over his availability.

Lockie did well for RCB in IPL 2024. He was crucial in the team turning around things and reaching the playoffs. Considering his experience and variations, he would be in demand in other leagues such as the SA20.

2) Adam Milne

Adam Milne is one of the Kiwis who declined central contracts for 2024/25 and could be regulars in IPL owners’ T20 teams. 32 years old, Adam Milne could have had a different career had he not suffered too many injuries.

Nevertheless, some franchises could still be interested in him, especially if it is for a short-term basis. He has pace, can hit the deck hard and bowl at either end of the innings. Milne already has experience playing in many T20 leagues. In IPL, he has represented RCB, MI and was even selected by CSK. This shows the kind of potential that major franchises see in him. Hence, he will never be short of opportunities.
