U19 World Cup is a good platform for teenagers to show their skills. However, it is not a guarantee that they will do well in their careers after they have a good run in the tournament. In the past, we have seen the likes of Yuvraj Singh and Cheteshwar Pujara do well after winning the Man of the Tournament award. However, the opposite has also happened. A few cricketers won this award but just could not take their game to the next level. They eventually faded and are struggling for chances right now. They also failed to play for their countries, which they were expected to when the tournament had ended. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two players who won Man of the Series in U19 World Cup history but faded away.
1) Dominic Hendricks (South Africa) – 2010
Dominic Hendricks is one of the players who won Man of the Series in U19 World Cup history but faded away. A left-handed batter, Hendricks finished as the highest run-getter in 2010. He got more runs than the likes of Quinton de Kock and Babar Azam in this edition.
However, his progress to the next level failed to happen. South Africa will hope that this does not repeat with their current stars as the likes of Dewald Brevis and Kwena Maphaka have brilliant talent.
2) Will Bosisto (Australia) – 2012
With 276 runs from six matches, Will Bosisto won the honour at the 2012 U19 World Cup. Having been the skipper of the side, many expected him to take the next level soon. However, that did not happen.
An opening batter and a good right-arm off-spinner, there was a lot of potential in Bosisto. However, although he had a good run domestically, as well, he could not take his game to the next level.
