MS Dhoni has been having some injury issues but he has not missed a game till now. However, as per reports, the CSK skipper might have to miss a few games, including the team’s next encounter against SRH. While it is a big gap in the squad due from a captaincy perspective, CSK will now have to find a suitable replacement behind the stumps, too. Here, we take a look at two players who can keep wickets for CSK against SRH if MS Dhoni is ruled out due to injury.
1) Devon Conway
It is being reported that Kiwi cricketer Devon Conway is practising wicket-keeping in the CSK nets. The South African-born cricketer is a part-time keeper and does this job often for his country.
From a balance perspective, Conway would be the best fit for the franchise. With the Kiwi going behind the stumps, CSK need not tinker much with their playing XI. They would then have the option to bring their best available India batter into the playing XI instead of MS Dhoni. There is a chance that CSK could also use a bowler instead of MS Dhoni in the playing XI. This depends on the combination and the pitch conditions.
2) Shaik Rasheed
Shaik Rasheed is one of the players who can keep wickets for CSK against SRH if MS Dhoni is ruled out due to injury. The 18-year-old was part of the recent U19 Indian Team. He is a talented cricketer who plays mostly in the top-order.
CSK has to groom a young wicket-keeper for the future. Preferably, this player should also have a role in the finishing department with the bat. Yes, Rasheed is so far not close to this role but it is the right time to start grooming him. Hence, the youngster is also a part of this list.
