India and Sri Lanka will take on each other in the 2nd T20I on Wednesday. Ahead of the game, there is news that Jitesh Sharma will replace Sanju Samson in the Indian squad. Here, we take a look as Twitter reacts as BCCI set to name an uncapped player as Sanju Samson’s replacement for T20I series against Sri Lanka.

Jitesh Sharma is reportedly Sanju Samson’s replacement

Sanju Samson was finally set for an extended run in the Indian T20I setup. With the regulars focussing on ODIs and India set for a transition period, Sanju Samson was likely to be groomed as one of the important cricketers in the middle order. The series against Sri Lanka was an important one for him. He might have failed in the first game in Mumbai but the management would have backed up. However, while fielding, Sanju Samson suffered a knee injury and he did not travel with the team to Pune for the second fixture.

Now, as per reports, Vidharba wicket-keeper Jitesh Sharma is likely to be in the squad for the series against Sri Lanka. He has been doing well in domestic cricket for a while and last season, he performed well in the IPL for Punjab Kings. In fact, he cemented his place in the line-up as the wicketkeeper. He followed it up with a fine performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and deservedly, he has got his chance.
