India ends the calendar year with the most international wins
2022 was a year full of ups and downs for the Indian Cricket Team. They displayed a staggering brand of cricket in the bilateral series but succumbed to pressure in the major events and games.
They kick-started the year with a Test and ODI series loss against South Africa but after that, they bounced back and thumped West Indies in ODI and T20I series at home before beating Sri Lanka in the 20-over series and Test matches.
Their five-match T20I series against South Africa was then tied but they defeated Ireland in the series. Many expected them to win the rescheduled fifth Test against England but they failed to rise on the occasion and suffered a 7-wicket defeat, leading to the series being tied at 2-2.
But they continued their white-ball form as India thumped England in both ODI as well as the T20I series. They also then pounded West Indies and Zimbabwe in the white-ball series before qualifying for the Super 4 stage of the tournament, where they suffered losses against Sri Lanka and Pakistan to get eliminated.
In the build-up to the T20 World Cup 2022, they thumped Australia and South Africa in the T20I series and played staggeringly well in the league stage of the tournament before facing a crashing defeat against England in the semi-final by 10 wickets.
India then defeated New Zealand in T20Is but faced a loss in the ODI series and also was pounded by Bangladesh in the ODI series. They, however, ended the year on high as they defeated Bangladesh in the Test series. They completed 46 wins this year, which is the most by any team in 2022.
