Australia will be on the hunt for yet another ICC trophy. On that note, here, we predict Australia‘s strongest playing 11 for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
Openers of Australia’s Champions Trophy squad: Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh
In Travis Head, Australia has one of the best openers in the format. It will be interesting to see who will partner with him. Mitchell Marsh will be the first choice. However, the likes of Matthew Short and Jake Fraser-McGurk could also be in business.
Middle-Order: Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne and Josh Inglis (WK)
Steve Smith will have a huge responsibility to do well. Marnus Labuschagne might not have a long rope to do well for Australia. Josh Inglis will be the key to the middle-order performance of this side.
All-Rounders of Australia’s Champions Trophy squad: Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis
Maxwell and Stoinis will be crucial to the chances of the side. Both will need to give a combined ten overs. They will also have to finish matches with the bat.
Bowlers: Pat Cummins (C), Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Adam Zampa
It will yet again be the same dominant bowling attack. However, Hazlewood’s fitness will be a concern. Someone like Sean Abbott could find a place as his backup. Ashton Agar might get selected as Zampa’s backup.
