2022 certainly wasn’t the greatest of years for Indian skipper Rohit Sharma both as a player and as a captain of the team. He failed miserably as a batter and also under him team suffered defeats in Asia Cup and T20 World Cup 2022.
Rohit was extremely poor with the bat in all three formats this year as he failed to score a century for the first time in a calendar year since 2013. Ever since he started to open the innings for his team in 2013, he completely evolved as a batter, scoring truckloads of runs every year.
But a poor performance along with injury concerns saw Rohit having his worst year as an opener in international cricket. He played just two Tests, scoring 90 runs without registering a half-century to his name. In the 8 ODIs this year, the right-hander managed just 249 runs at an average of 41.50 to go with 3 three fifties with a best of 76* runs.
He was worst in the T20Is as well as in 29 games he managed just 656 runs at a poor average of 24.29 and a strike rate of 134.42 to go with 3 fifties as well. It was expected that Rohit would play Tests against Bangladesh but injured yet again ruled him out of the series, thus ending the year without a century.
