The Australian players always add a lot of flair to the IPL with the flamboyance and hitting prowess that they bring to the table and also with their pace in the bowling department and this season is no different.
There are a lot of Australian players who are doing well for their respective teams in IPL 2020 as well and making match wining contributions. Here are the 5 in-form Australian players in the ongoing edition of the IPL so far –
#1 Shane Watson (Chennai Super Kings)
Shane Watson, at this stage, is the second highest run scorer for CSK in IPL 2020 as he has scored 241 runs in 8 games at an average of 34.43 and a strike rate of 122.34. In the 3 victories that CSK has secured this season, Watson has had a key role to play in two of them.
The Aussie veteran has had to bat at different positions in the tournament as he was demoted to no. 3 in the last game against SRH to provide impetus to the CSK innings against the spinners, but he adjusted well and scored 40 odd to help CSK get to a respectable total of 167 which proved to be match winning at the end.
#2 Aaron Finch (Royal Challengers Bangalore)
Aaron Finch has played for a lot of IPL franchises till date, but he didn’t really get a consistent run at any of his previous franchises. However, RCB is showing a lot of faith in him and he has been able to repay the faith as well on a few occasions.
Finch is among the top 5 run scorers for RCB this season as he has amassed 171 runs in 7 games and his batting at the top of the order is one of the main reasons why RCB is in top half of the IPL points table at the moment.
#3 Marcus Stoinis (Delhi Capitals)
Marcus Stoinis is turning out to be the most valuable player for Delhi Capitals this season, not just with the bat, but with the ball as well. Out of the 8 games that Delhi has played, Stoinis has won two games for them single-handedly and has made significant contributions in other victories as well.
The Australian all-rounder has scored close to 200 runs with the bat, apart from grabbing 6 wickets at a decent economy rate, bowling in tricky phases of the game.
#4 David Warner (Sunrisers Hyderabad)
There hasn’t been a single IPL season where David Warner has not scored heaps of runs for Hyderabad and he is at no. 5 in the run scoring chart this season as well. The Australian southpaw, who is also the captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad, has scored 284 runs in 8 games at an average of 35.50.
Warner has probably not been batting at a tempo he normally bats at, but that’s probably because SRH has an inexperienced batting order this time around and Warner wants to play through the innings.
#5 Pat Cummins (Kolkata Knight Riders)
Pat Cummins might not have taken too many wickets for KKR in the tournament yet, but he has bowled during the toughest stages of the game and has imposed enough pressure on the batsmen with his accuracy for the wickets to come at the other end.
KKR mostly uses Cummins either in the power-play when the field is up or at the death when the batsmen are looking to go after everything, but Cummins has still excelled in most of the games. He also scored his first half-century In T20 cricket against Mumbai Indians which shows his impeccable Batting ability.
