Why Adam Zampa didn’t play against DC

A lot of people were left wondering why RCB dropped Adam Zampa for the game against Delhi Capitals and changed their two leg-spinner strategy when it was a part of their winning combination, but the RCB skipper Virat Kohli made it clear that Adam Zampa was not dropped and it was a forced change because the Australian leg spinner had an upset stomach.

RCB went with Moeen Ali in place of Zampa who wasn’t able to make too much of an impact in the game with either bat or ball and as it turned out, RCB lost the game by a massive margin. Although it was only the second defeat of the season for RCB, their net run rate suffered quite a bit because of the margin of the defeat.

Adam Zampa might not have changed the result

However, even if Zampa was there, he might not have been able to change the result because of the way Delhi Capitals batted and also because of the nature of the pitch. Although it was a used pitch, it was still a belter and Delhi Capitals showed great intent with the bat first up as they went after the RCB spinners straightaway and didn’t let them apply any sort of pressure.

Even Chahal, who has been one of the best bowlers in the tournament till date, was taken to the cleaners as Marcus Stoinis raced to is half-century in just 20 odd balls.

RCB, in reply, never looked like chasing the target down as they lost early wickets and the final nail in the coffin was ABD’s dismissal who is the only batsman in the RCB line-up capable of chasing big scores.

There is no doubt about the fact that the RCB skipper Virat Kohli himself is a world class player, but he is still an anchor and it’s a bit difficult for him to hunt down totals in excess of 200 single-handedly.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
