’49 year old Sachin is still playing better than KL Rahul’-Twitter reacts as Sachin Tendulkar plays some of his most trademark shots on National Sports Day

Sachin Tendulkar’s record in one-day international cricket with the white ball is even more remarkable given that he has scored as many as 18,426 runs in 463 matches with an average of 44.83 and was the first man to score a double century in ODIs. His tally of 100 centuries includes 49 centuries scored in one-day internationals.

The legendary Indian cricket player called it quits in one-day internationals in 2012 but continued to compete in the longer version of the game till 2013. Following participating in his 200th test match, which took place in Mumbai against the West Indies, he decided to hang up his cleats and retire from the sport after a spectacular 24-year career in international cricket.

As part of the festivities commemorating National Sports Day, Sachin Tendulkar decided to provide the fans with a demonstration of the extraordinary shot range he has. The legendary Indian batsman took to Twitter to upload a video in which he can be seen demonstrating many of the strokes that have become synonymous with his playing style on a tennis court. On the birthday of the late, great Major Dhyan Chand, we honour all things sporting with our annual National Sports Day celebration.
