RCB is one franchise that usually goes behind the big names. This time around, the team adopted a different strategy. Nevertheless, at the auctions, they did go after some popular cricketers. However, they could not close the deal to sign these players. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three famous players RCB targeted but could not sign in IPL 2025 Mega Auctions.
1) KL Rahul
Many expected KL Rahul to come back to RCB. However, the management of RCB had different ideas. It appeared that they were ready to sign KL Rahul only if he came at a certain price.
KL Rahul would have made the headlines had he returned to RCB. The franchise would have also welcomed the local lad and could have even made him the skipper. However, that did not happen.
2) Mitchell Starc
Mitchell Starc is one of the famous players RCB targeted but could not sign in IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. At the end moments, RCB showed interest in signing Mitchell Starc. However, the team did not want to extend their bid and hence, they lost the cricketer.
Starc would have been the perfect leader of the attack for RCB. He has played at the franchise before and he could have given the franchise a lot of wickets in the powerplay, just like he did in his last stint. Nevertheless, RCB made amends signing Josh Hazlewood later on.
3) Kagiso Rabada
Kagiso Rabada was the first player whom RCB raised the bid for. They were in the race for quite some time. After the bid went past a certain price, RCB was no longer interested in the player.
On the hindsight, he would have actually been a good signing for the franchise. RCB does not have a lot of players who can hit the deck hard and bowl the hard length often. Had Rabada been in the side, he could have done that for the franchise.
