“Jassi jaisa koi nahi,” Yuvraj Singh takes a dig at critics of Jasprit Bumrah with a Hindi daily soap dialogue

Yuvraj Singh and Jasprit Bumrah played a bit of together at the start of Bumrah's career

The former Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh took a dig at the critics of Jasprit Bumrah as the Mumbai Indians speedster secured a five-wicket haul in the last night’s IPL game against KKR.

This IPL hasn’t been great for Jasprit Bumrah personally, as it has not been great for Mumbai Indians as a team, but one of the reasons Bumrah was not getting wickets was because the opposition teams were prepared to see him off and attack the other Mumbai bowlers as Mumbai doesn’t have a great bowling attack this season.

But, yesterday, Bumrah bowled very attacking lengths. He was again used towards the end of the innings by the Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma, but he didn’t just stick to yorkers and wasn’t just happy giving away singles and keeping the batsmen in check. He wanted wickets.

Jasprit Bumrah bowled more back of length deliveries yesterday than yorkers

Bumrah bowled back of a length on a surface that was two-paced and had spongy bounce and he bounced quite a few KKR batsmen out, as all of them struggled to cope with the attacking lengths that Bumrah bowled.

However, despite Bumrah’s devastating spell at the end, KKR put 160 odd runs on the board which proved to be plenty, as Mumbai couldn’t even cross 120 in pursuit of the target.

Yuvraj Singh praised Bumrah’s individual performance and insisted that the class of a bowler is forever. Even if he goes through a phase where he doesn’t get many wickets, the class doesn’t go anywhere.

Yuvraj also used a catchy phrase for Bumrah from an old daily soap on Indian television named “Jassi jaisa koi nahi (Nobody is like Jassi).

Yuvraj Singh was a part of the Indian team when Jasprit Bumrah made his international debut and he has seen Bumrah develop from a rookie youngster to an experienced bowler.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
