In the statement released by Rajasthan Royals, it has been mentioned that “Shimron Hetmyer has travelled back to Guyana early morning today for the imminent birth of his first child.”
The franchise has also clearly specified that the West Indian big-hitter will return to the competition. It said, “We look forward to Shimron then returning to Mumbai, and resuming duties at the Royals for the remainder of our matches in IPL 2022. ”

An important member of the RR playing XI
With the win over Punjab Kings on Saturday, Rajasthan Royals are now in a comfortable position to reach the playoffs. In eleven games, they have seven wins and have a good NRR too. The team will next face Delhi Capitals on 11th May.
A top signing at the auctions, Hetmyer has justified his price tag with solid performances this season. RR has employed him in a finisher role and the West Indian has responded with a fine effort. In a few games, he even tackled the loss of wickets at the other end to take his team to a good score.
In 11 games till now, the southpaw has scored 291 runs at an average of 58.20 and a strike rate of 166. RR has suitable replacements in the form of James Neesham and Rassie van der Dussen. However, being in form, RR would want Hetmyer back in the XI at the earliest. The player will have to undergo the mandatory 3-day quarantine after returning to be eligible for selection.
