“Quite a gesture” – Harsha Bhogle Reacts After Rohit Sharma Lets Ishan Kishan Open The Batting In The 3rd T20I

Coming into the final encounter in the T20I series against West Indies, it was expected that there would be a few changes. While there were a few changes, there was a surprise modification in the batting order, as well. In this article, we take a look at how Harsha Bhogle reacted after Rohit Sharma lets Ishan Kishan open the batting in the 3rd T20I.

Rohit Sharma lets Ishan Kishan open the batting

With Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant rested, India brought in Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shreyas Iyer into the XI. With Ruturaj getting a chance, the prediction was that Ishan Kishan would drop in at Pant’s place while Shreyas will take Virat’s No.3 spot. Ishan has batted at No.4 before and he was anyways not doing well at the top. However, it was a surprise when Ishan Kishan came out to open alongside Ruturaj Gaikwad. At No.3, it was Shreyas Iyer who batted and hence, Rohit took his old No.4 spot.

However, the move did not pay dividends. While Ishan Kishan yet again had a tough outing with a 31-ball 34, Rohit could manage just 7 runs in 15 deliveries. Suryakumar Yadav and Venkatesh Iyer constructed a fruitful partnership that helped India set up a score of 184 in the first innings.

Harsha Bhogle reacts

Harsha Bhogle reacted as soon as Rohit Sharma decided to give his position to Ishan. Here is what the popular commentator had to say:

For India, the entire assignment against West Indies has helped in delivering a few positives. One of the important takeaways is the performance of the middle-order. Rishabh Pant, Suryakumar Yadav and Venkatesh Iyer have done well and this will help Team India in the long run. With Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja in the squad, India can finally address the issue in the middle-order. The arrival of Ravi Bishnoi and the impressive display by Bhuvneshwar Kumar will also keep the management happy.
