Ajaz Patel picked 10 wickets in an innings in Mumbai
Coming into the Mumbai Test, very few expected Ajaz Patel to play the game. After the underwhelming show at Kanpur, Ajaz was expected to be replaced by Mitchell Santner. However, Ajaz got the chance and he made full use of it at the Wankhede Stadium.
In the first innings of the game, Ajaz collected all ten wickets. He became the third bowler in the history of the game to achieve it. Jim Laker from England and Anil Kumble from India had previously done it. Hence, it was a rare feat by the Kiwi.

Ravichandran Ashwin interviewed Ajaz Patel after India won the game convincingly. Both the spinners were involved in an engaging conversation about the game and the achievement by Ajaz.
At the same time, Ashwin also became aware of Ajaz not having a blue tick on his Twitter account. He tagged Twitter’s verification handle and said a ten-wicket taker deserved a blue tick. In a few hours, Ajaz Patel did get his blue tick. Ashwin confirmed the same in reply to his earlier request.

Meanwhile, Team India is preparing for the tour of South Africa. The squad will take part in three Tests and three ODIs in the rainbow nation. The series was in doubt after the emergence of a new COVID variant. However, BCCI and CSA confirmed that the series was going ahead. The Indian Team for the same will be selected soon. Few reports suggest that a few underperforming players could be dropped for the tour.
