Team India pulled off a memorable win at the Lord’s in the second game of the ongoing series between India and England. The Indians were struggling at the start of Day 5. However, the bowlers helped the side overcome the odds and win the game. The Jasprit Bumrah-James Anderson exchange was one of the highlights of the game. Recently, Ravichandran Ashwin revealed what Anderson told Bumrah that started the debate.
The Lord’s game was high on emotions
Unlike the first encounter, the second game at Lord’s was high on emotions. Players from both sides were fired up and wanted to give their best. The crowd and the pundits were also involved in the affairs. Hence, with the fall of every wicket in the final innings, the Indian team showed raw emotions.
You could say that all of it started with the Jasprit Bumrah and James Anderson exchange at the end of England’s first innings with the bat. Bumrah bowled a barrage of bouncers to Anderson, who was clearly rattled by it. One delivery even hit his helmet and a concussion test had to be done.
Anderson was not impressed by Bumrah’s tactics
After the legendary pacer was out, all the players were headed to the pavilion. In a sportive gesture, Jasprit Bumrah came and patted at the back of Anderson. However, the English pacer did not respond well to it. He said a few words that triggered an exchange between the duo.
This narrative carried on to the Indian batting innings as well, where Anderson had a few words with Virat Kohli. When Bumrah came on to bat, too, the Englishmen had a few remarks against him.
Ravichandran Ashwin revealed what Anderson told to Bumrah
On his YouTube channel, R Ashwin returned with the ‘Kutty Story‘ episodes, which had become popular after the tour of Australia earlier this year. Speaking to R Sridhar, Ashwin divulged the exchange between Anderson and Bumrah. Apparently brushing Bumrah aside after he had come forward to end the matter, Anderson said, “You bowl only 85MPH to the other batters, you are bowling 90 MPH to me. This is cheating. I won’t accept”. Ashwin also said that Anderson had brushed aside Ravindra Jadeja in 2014.
