As Rohit Sharma is all set to start his full-time captaincy stint with the Indian T20I team, one of his old tweets has gone viral where he is talking about leading the side in Jaipur.
While the tweet is getting a lot of traction at the moment because of its resemblance with the fact that Rohit will lead a side in Jaipur again and this time the Indian cricket team, the tweet is actually about an old Ranji Trophy game which was played between Mumbai and Rajasthan at the start of the 2012-13 Indian domestic season.
Rohit Sharma used to play international cricket for India at that point of time as well, but he was not an established member of the side as he is now and hence, at times, he also had the opportunity to play a bit of first-class cricket for his state side Mumbai.
The Ranji Trophy match where Rohit Sharma captained Mumbai ended in a draw
At the start of the 2012-13 season, Rohit was actually given the opportunity to lead Mumbai for the first time in his career which he was very excited about, and he put out a tweet as he reached Jaipur to play the game which eventually ended in a draw. It’s that old tweet of Rohit which some of the Indian fans dug out yesterday.
Rohit Sharma is going to start a new era of Indian white-ball cricket tonight, particularly T20 international cricket, with the newly appointed coach Rahul Dravid. The aim of the new leadership set-up is to win the next two T20 World Cups, which are to be played in 2022 and 2024 in Australia and USA/West Indies respectively.
Touched down in jaipur and yes I will be leading the side, looking forward to the added responsibility 🙂

The preparation starts with the T20I series against the World Cup runners-up New Zealand. The series gets underway at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur with the fans allowed in the stadium as well now, after a long game in the home games for India.
It should be a cracking atmosphere at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium as the men in blue take the field on the home soil after a while.
