The ICC World Cup 2023 is just around the corner as the event will take place in India from 5th October. The final will take place on 19th November in Ahmedabad and a total of 48 matches will take place. BCCI has named the final 15-member squad for the ICC World Cup 2023. Rohit Sharma will be leading the team whereas Hardik Pandya will be his deputy. The Indian squad is pretty much expected. Rohit Sharma
Indian captain Rohit Sharma is among the players who played for India in the 2015 World Cup and will also feature in the 2023 World Cup. The right-hander will be captaining this time around however, during the 2015 event he was establishing himself as an opener. The opening batter smashed 330 runs in that tournament in 8 games and played a vital role for the team. However, this time around he’ll be having an added responsibility as along with giving the team good starts he needs to captain as well.
Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli also played the 2015 World Cup for India and will be part of the event this time around. He played a pivotal role in the World Cup in Australia, scoring 305 runs for his team. He’s been the backbone of the team since the last one decade and this time around a lot would be relying on him. It’s fair to say that if India needs to win the world he needs to be at his best and if he does that no one can stop India from winning.
Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammad Shami and Axar Patel
Apart from Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammad Shami and Axar Patel are also among the players who played for India in the 2015 World Cup and will also feature in the 2023 World Cup. Ravindra Jadeja at that time wasn’t a regular feature in the team and played just a few games whereas Axar Patel played just one match. Mohammad Shami was the star performer for the team that year as he picked 17 wickets. The trio this time around will be extremely crucial for the team as they have become a vital cog in the wheel for the team.
