IPL 2022 Auction is done and dusted. The two days of power-packed bidding saw players from across the world receive contracts from the 10 franchises. While some lesser-known stars earned big deals, a few big names went unsold as well.
Some underappreciated stars received a massive pay raise, while some superstars received a pay cut. In this listicle now, we will look at the five players who lost their millionaire status in IPL 2022.
1. Ravichandran Ashwin lost millionaire status in IPL 2022
Star Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin had a salary of INR 7.6 crore in the previous IPL season. The Delhi Capitals retained him for that sum. However, in IPL 2022, he has been sold for INR 5 crore by the Rajasthan Royals.
2. Pat Cummins lost millionaire status in IPL 2022
To achieve millionaire status, a player needs to have a contract worth more than INR 7.5 crore. Australian cricket team’s star fast bowler Pat Cummins was very close to that mark. However, he lost his millionaire status. Kolkata Knight Riders paid INR 15.5 crore to him last year, but the same franchise re-signed him for INR 7.25 crore at the mega auction.
3. David Warner
Another star Australian cricket team player to appear on the list is David Warner, who is a former 3-time IPL Orange Cap winner. Warner had a contract worth INR 12.5 crore from Sunrisers Hyderabad last year, but this year, his salary has come down to INR 6.25 crore, with the Delhi Capitals being his new team.
4. Manish Pandey
Manish Pandey had a salary of INR 11 crore in IPL 2021. SRH paid him that amount for his services, but at the mega auction, his IPL salary came down to INR 4.6 crore, with the Lucknow Super Giants signing him.
5. Krishnappa Gowtham
Chennai Super Kings made history by signing Krishnappa Gowtham for INR 9.25 crore in IPL 2021. However, CSK did not give him a single match. This year, the Lucknow Super Giants signed him for just INR 90 lakh.
