The second game of the series between India and New Zealand is slated to take place on 21st January. It’ll be another opportunity for the Indian Cricket Team to find their correct balance and get their playing XI right ahead of the World Cup, which is slated to take place later this year.

Skipper Rohit Sharma will no doubt open the innings and would want to convert his start into a big knock, which he has been lacking for a while now. It’s fair to say that Shubman Gill has locked the opening spot as he smashed the double ton in the last game and is expected to continue the open for long time now.

Virat Kohli will bat at No.3 in the second ODI against New Zealand and would look to score as he missed out in the first game. Ishan Kishan also failed to make a mark in the game but it’ll be another opportunity for him to bat at No.4 and prove his mettle.

Suryakumar Yadav looked gorgeous to eyes in the first game. But he failed to covert his start and was out im thirties. But he’s expected to retain his place at No.5. Hardik Pandya is expected to retain his place at No.6 and also play a crucial role with the ball.

With no Axar Patel in the side, Washington Sundar is likely to get a run in the series at No.7 and form a spin bowling unit with Kuldeep Yadav, who will be slated at No.8. Whereas Umran Malik is expected to replace Shardul Thakur and form pace bowling attack with Mohammad Shami and Mohammed Siraj.
