4 players who might increase their IPL 2023 salary despite getting released

A few players were surprisingly released before the IPL 2024 Auctions. In most cases, the release of a player is due to his form. In some scenarios, teams are worried about the price-tag, as well. Interestingly, some of these players could actually get a higher salary in the upcoming auctions. That is how the dynamics of an auction work. On that note, here, we take a look at four released players who might increase their IPL 2023 salary despite getting released.

1) Wanindu Hasaranga – INR 10.75 Cr

Wanindu Hasaranga is one of the released players who might increase their IPL 2023 salary despite getting released. It is due to his price-tag and also his struggles at the Chinnaswamy Stadium that led to RCB releasing Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga.

That said, he is an elite cricketer. There are not many spinners available at his level. He could wreak havoc at venues such as Chepauk or Eden Gardens. Teams such as Mumbai Indians need a quality spinner in their ranks. These factors could help Hasaranga get a big contract later this month.

2) Kartik Tyagi – INR 4 Cr

One of the most in-demand uncapped cricketers at the moment is Kartik Tyagi. Yes, he is yet to hit his peak but there is no doubt about his talent. He is one of the very names that does well with the ball in all phases of the game. Plus, he has age on his side.

Kartik was earning INR 4 Cr at SRH. It is likely that he will get a bigger contract in IPL 2024 Auctions. There are several teams such as MI, KKR and RCB that needs an Indian pacer. Kartik is one of the best options in this regard. Hence, he is on this list.

3) Tristan Stubbs – INR 0.2 Cr

Tristan Stubbs is also one of the released players who might increase their IPL 2023 salary despite getting released. It was just for a mere pay of INR 20 Lakhs that Tristan Stubbs was playing at Mumbai Indians. He has now been released from the outfit.

One of the most brutal hitters of the cricket ball, Stubbs is a fine keeper, as well. He is also in good domestic form at the moment. Stubbs is only 23 years old and he has a fine career ahead of him. He would be a solid investment for most teams. Definitely, he would go for an amount in the excess of INR 20 Lakhs. Hence, he is on this list.

4) Shahrukh Khan – INR 9 Cr

Punjab Kings released Shahrukh Khan before the auctions. It was a surprise considering the team needs an Indian finisher, especially with the likes of Sam Curran and Liam Livingstone not in great form. Shahrukh Khan, though, did not do justice to his role last season. Hence, it was not a surprise.

On the other hand, teams such as CSK and Delhi Capitals are desperate for Indian batting firepower. In this regard, they could go to war at the auctions to sign Shahrukh. Plus, the Tamil Nadu man is now a good spinner, as well. All these factors could help him fetch more than his IPL 2023 salary.
