2 Indian pacers Delhi Capitals tried to sign in IPL 2024 Auctions but could not

Delhi Capitals have an interesting pace attack. In all the players they have, the potential is surely there. However, it is the performance on the field that does not inspire confidence. Hence, naturally, DC was interested in improving the pace attack for IPL 2024. Going by their targets, it was clear that DC was looking for experience and also phase-specialist bowlers. On that note, here, we take a look at two Indian pacers Delhi Capitals tried to sign in IPL 2024 Auctions but could not.

1) Jaydev Unadkat

Jaydev Unadkat previously played for Delhi. Although his recent seasons have not been great in the IPL, the Saurashtra man still got some bids at the auction. Delhi Capitals was also one of the sides.

Having released Chetan Sakariya, the team needed someone to replace him. DC would have probably preferred an experienced name who could open the bowling. Hence, they were clear about signing Jaydev. However, SRH also wanted the cricketer and eventually, the Hyderabad-based outfit signed the player.

2) Umesh Yadav

Umesh Yadav is one of the pacers Delhi Capitals tried to sign in IPL 2024 Auctions but could not. The Nagpur-based pacer did not have a great run in IPL 2023. Yet, he fetched a big amount in the recent auctions. There were quite a few teams interested in the veteran and DC was one of them. Interestingly, before KKR, Umesh actually played for DC.

Much has to do with the recent domestic form of Umesh. He has been doing well and since he can always be dangerous with the new ball, he was chased by many squads. The presence of the Impact Player rule further helped Umesh to be in demand. Gujarat Titans wanted to pair Umesh and Shami with the new ball and hence, they signed the player eventually. Had DC signed him, he would have been very useful to the side.
