3 World Cup performers whom IPL franchises must be careful about signing for a big fee

The 2023 ODI World Cup was a good platform for IPL franchises to scout overseas talents. However, the teams must not read too much into these performances, as well. They must follow their usual scouting processes to nail down their targets. On that note, here, we take a look at three World Cup performers whom IPL franchises must be careful about signing for a big fee.

1) Gerald Coetzee

The South African speedster, who picked close to 20 wickets in the World Cup, will be high on demand. Naturally so, because of his age and the attributes he has.

That said, it needs to be noted that Coetzee is not that experienced till now. He definitely has the potential but franchises must not go overboard to sign him. The price-tag pressure could have an impact on a player who will make his IPL debut next season.

2) Rachin Ravindra

Rachin Ravindra was one of the stars of the World Cup. Not many expected him to come good but he performed extremely well.

Again, in Rachin’s case, he has just started doing well. With the bat, at the highest level, it was his first big show. As a bowler, he is yet to completely showcase his skills. Moreover, as a T20 player, he is yet to make a name. All these factors must be on the minds of the bidders at the auction.

3) Dilshan Madushanka

Dilshan Madushanka is one of the World Cup performers whom IPL franchises must be careful about signing for a big fee. The Sri Lankan pacer picked a lot of wickets in the tournament.

However, Dilshan does not have experience at the highest level. While his new ball skills are known, his performance in the other phases of the game could be debatable. He deserves an IPL contract but teams should think about the maximum budget they can afford to hire him.
