It seems that Prithvi Shaw and Delhi Capitals have hit a rough end. The player has been dropped for the last few games. It won’t be a surprise if DC even looks at different players not just for this season but also for the future. In that case, there would be a lot of suitors for Shaw. On that note, here, we take a look at three teams that can target Prithvi Shaw if he is released after IPL 2023 by Delhi Capitals.
1) Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians are in need of a change in their opening combination. For the last two seasons, the duo of Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma have failed to be consistent. Also, MI needs to look at the future keeping in mind the ageing Rohit Sharma.
Being a local boy, Prithvi Shaw would be the ideal fit for Mumbai. The Wankhede Stadium would also suit his abilities. Also, he can be a captaincy option in the future.
2) Kolkata Knight Riders
Kolkata Knight Riders are one of the teams that can target Prithvi Shaw if he is released after IPL 2023 by Delhi Capitals. After releasing Shubman Gill, KKR has been struggling to find a good opening partnership.
Although they can field two overseas cricketers, that would disturb their balance. Hence, getting an Indian like Prithvi Shaw would be a major tick of the box. If available in the market, KKR should go all out for him, even if it means they risk releasing someone like Shardul Thakur or Lockie Ferguson.
3) Sunrisers Hyderabad
Mayank Agarwal has, so far, not been great at SRH. Considering his price, he could be released after IPL 2023. That would leave a vacancy at the top of the order.
SRH could look at someone like Prithvi Shaw if he is available. He would be a good option at the top of the order. A few years down the line, SRH can also fancy a steady domestic captain in the form of Shaw, if he finds success initially as a batter.
