The first edition of the Over-40 World Cup will start on February 19th. International Masters Cricket is hosting this competition. There are 12 teams in this tournament, including the likes of India. The squads for the tournament were announced recently. The entire tournament will happen in South Africa. On that note, here, we take a look at three popular cricketers who will represent India in the Over-40 World Cup happening in February.
1) Wasim Jaffer
Wasim Jaffer will be the most popular cricketer in this squad. He is also likely to be the most important member of the batting unit.
Jaffer is a powerhouse when it comes to domestic cricket. He has scored a truckload of runs in the Ranji Trophy and has also won the title with teams such as Mumbai and Vidharba. After retirement, he has been coaching sides, both domestically and also in the IPL.
2) Pravin Tambe
Pravin Tambe is someone who started his career later. Nevertheless, he could still make an impact, while representing multiple IPL units.
He has also explored a lot of options in overseas T20 leagues. Pravin has also been a coach and still has a future in this regard. He is a wily leg-spinner and would lead the spin attack for India in this World Cup.
3) Shadab Jakati
Shadab Jakati is one of the popular cricketers who will represent India in the Over-40 World Cup happening in February. Not many remember but Shadab Jakati was an integral part of CSK back then. Before Ravindra Jadeja developed into a reliable left-arm spinner, it was Jakati who did the job.
After his stint at CSK, he represented teams such as RCB and GL. However, he could not find the same success. Even at domestic level, while playing for Goa, he could not show his form of the past.
