3 players who could become the next vice-captain of England’s white-ball teams

As per reports, Jos Buttler is set to continue as the white-ball captain of England. Now, the job of the management would be to identify a future captain who can be groomed from now. There are multiple contenders in this regard. On that note, here, we take a look at three players who could become the next vice-captain of England’s white-ball teams.

1) Sam Curran

Sam Curran had a terrible outing in the 2023 ODI World Cup. However, it needs to be noted that it is a rough phase in his career and the conditions also did not suit him. Considering his talent, the management will surely back him.

He is a talented cricketer and also has leadership potential. With David Willey retiring and Reece Topley injury-prone, Sam will be the first-choice left-arm seamer for the side. He will get more chances and it won’t be a bad idea to groom him as a captain, too.

2) Harry Brook

Harry Brook is one of the players who could become the next vice-captain of England’s white-ball teams. The easier option will be to get Harry Brook on as the deputy to Jos Buttler.

Brook will be an all-format cricketer for England for the next few years. The management must make him the focal point of the batting line-up. They can give him responsibility and motivation by making him the vice-captain of the side.

3) Ben Duckett

Ben Duckett is also on this list. Zak Crawley was the captain of the England side that toured Ireland. Ben Duckett was the vice-captain here.

However, Ben is a better-established white-ball cricketer than Zak at the moment. He is 29 years old and has good experience at the domestic level. Captaincy could be new for him but England can take a bet on the player. Putting more pressure on Sam and Harry could have negative effects and if the management thinks this way, they can try the option of Ben.
