3 overseas pacers CSK could target if they don’t get Gerald Coetzee

Gerald Coetzee would be the No.1 target for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024 Auctions. He plays for JSK and the owners would want the player in the IPL, too. That said, there are other teams such as KKR and Delhi Capitals who would also like a player like Coetzee. If the South African cricketer is not available, CSK may have other ideas. Here, we take a look at the list of three overseas pacers CSK could target if they don’t get Gerald Coetzee.

1) Dilshan Madushanka

One under-rated signing would be Dilshan Madushanka. While he is excellent with the new ball, he has enough variations to do well at other stages of the game. Plus, he would be a real deal at a venue like the Chepauk.

Most importantly, Madushanka could come cheap and he could also be an investment for the future. CSK could keep him as the last option in case Coetzee goes beyond the price band.

2) Lockie Ferguson

Lockie Ferguson is one of the overseas pacers CSK could target if they don’t get Gerald Coetzee. Not many are talking about Lockie Ferguson. He could also interest a few teams at the auctions.

Yes, Lockie might not have had a good run in recent times. However, that was mainly due to his injury problems. He is now fit and is bowling well. At least as the second pacer of a side, he can be a good option. For CSK, he would add variety to the pace attack with his presence and also some experience.

3) Pat Cummins

If Coetzee is not available and if Pat Cummins is yet to go under the hammer, CSK must break the bank for him. He is the ideal CSK type of cricketer in the auctions.

Experience is one factor and the attributes that Cummins brings to the table is more important. He can be the perfect glue to the pace attack that consists the core of Deepak Chahar and Matheesha Pathirana.
