Pinch-hitters have the ability to change a game drastically. In the past, we have seen the likes of Sunil Narine do well in this aspect. A few players could be used in this role in the coming season, as well. On that note, here, we take a look at three players who could be used as pinch-hitters in IPL 2024.
1) Rashid Khan
Time and again, Rashid Khan has shown that he is decent with the bat. Yes, his methods might be unorthodox but Rashid has been successful in scoring some quick runs when his team needs them. Most of the time, this has happened at the end of an inning.
However, it would not be a surprise if Gujarat Titans tried to promote him in IPL 2024. GT must evolve further with their tactics so that teams do not tackle them easily. Therefore, this is one of the strategies they can use in IPL 2024.
2) Vyshak Vijay Kumar
In recent months, Vyshak V from Karnataka has developed as a batter. In the ongoing Ranji Trophy, he has already done well with a few cameos. The player himself said that he wants to become an all-rounder.
Andy Flower likes bowlers who can bat a bit. Vyshak seems to have the power to hit some huge sixes. RCB could also need such surprises in the batting order. Therefore, Vyshak can be the option here.
3) Pat Cummins
Pat Cummins is one of the players who could be used as pinch-hitters in IPL 2024. Pat Cummins can be destructive with the bat like he showed a couple of seasons ago when he played for KKR.
SRH’s major challenge would be to ace the entry point of Heinrich Klaasen. If they have some confusion, they can use Cummins as a pinch-hitter. Even if he loses his wicket, it won’t be an issue but Cummins usually would contribute something before he gets out,
