In an important trade deal, Avesh Khan and Devdutt Padikkal have switched sides for IPL 2024. While Avesh will represent Rajasthan Royals, Devdutt will play under KL Rahul at Lucknow Super Giants. With Avesh coming to RR, surely, it could be the end for a few players in the team. On that note, here, we take a look at three players who could be released by RR after they signed Avesh Khan.
1) Navdeep Saini
Navdeep Saini played a few games last season and was not bad. However, his recent form in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy was not noteworthy. Also, he is an injury-prone cricketer and might tend to be inconsistent.
RR might not want too many players with similar profiles on the side. Hence, Saini is one of the cricketers who could be released by the franchise before the auctions.
2) Kuldeep Sen
Kuldeep Sen is one of the players who could be released by RR after they signed Avesh Khan. While his first season at RR was good, Kuldeep did not have a memorable outing in IPL 2023. This is despite Prasidh Krishna not being a part of the team this season.
While he has the attributes to make for a brilliant pacer, his development is not hitting the required levels. Also, since he is too raw, RR might not get the best out of him consistently. This might result in Kuldeep leaving the outfit soon.
3) Jason Holder
RR might now not need a foreign pacer in the playing XI because a good Indian pacer is available. Hence, one of Trent Boult and Obed McCoy are likely to take a spot in the XI.
On the other hand, Jason‘s form has not been good recently. Therefore, he might be released, especially because of his salary of INR 5.75 Cr, which may not be worthy considering his current form.
