3 players who can replace David Warner as the next opener in Tests

David Warner is currently playing in his final Test series. Even Usman Khawaja is in the final few years of his career. Hence, the situation at the top is something Australia must focus on. There were the likes of Mitchell Marsh and Marnus Labuschagne, whose names were discussed as the next opener. However, both of them denied the move. Hence, it would take someone from the domestic circuit to replace Warner at the top of the order. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three players who can replace David Warner as the next opener in Tests.

1) Marcus Harris

Marcus Harris is the most likely candidate to take up David Warner’s position. He has experience at the highest level and has also done well in recent times in domestic cricket.

Australia cannot afford a fresh cricketer to replace Warner, especially because of Khawaja’s situation. Hence, Hariss could be backed for the role.

2) Matt Renshaw

Matt Renshaw is one of the players who can replace David Warner as the next opener in Tests. He is one of the younger options for the management at the moment.

Although he has displayed inconsistency, the management could still back him. He has the game to excel in the longer format. However, there are doubts about how he could play spin. This might not help him going forward.

3) Cameron Bancroft

Cameron Bancroft actually deserves a return to the Australian playing XI. While David Warner and Steve Smith from the infamous sandpaper gate have set their careers back on track, it has been hard for Bancroft.

However, it needs to be noted that the player is one of the best at the domestic level in recent years. Also, if Australia needs a left-right combination at the top, Bancroft is the perfect choice.
