3 players from the ODI team that played against Bangladesh who could be dropped for the next series

India lost the ODI series to Bangladesh. It was a shocking and embarrassing loss for the men in blue. After this failure, management will be forced to take some hard decisions. India’s next ODI assignment will be against Sri Lanka and Australia in January and February. On that note, here, we take a look at three players from the ODI team that played against Bangladesh who could be dropped for the next series.

1) Shardul Thakur

In the first ODI, with the ball, Shardul had a good game. In the second match, he gave away 47 runs without collecting any wickets. The Mumbai cricketer failed with the bat in both matches.

For a bowling all-rounder, it was not a great performance by Shardul. Anyways, the player had been in poor form for the last few months. With the likes of Jasprit Bumrah set to make a return, Shardul is likely to be dropped from the team.

2) Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan is one of the players from the ODI team that played against Bangladesh who could be dropped for the next series. It seems that the management would have run out of patience after the series against Bangladesh. With Virat Kohli also not doing well, India cannot afford Dhawan at the top.

Moreover, with Shubman Gill in good form, India shall be okay with dropping Dhawan. Yes, they will lose the experience but with around 10 months to go for the 2023 ODI World Cup, it is now the time to move on from the veteran.

3) Shahbaz Ahmed

There was not much wrong that Shahbaz did in the first game. However, with Ravindra Jadeja returning, Shahbaz might have to go back and wait on the fringes. Especially with Axar stepping up with the bat, India will have to drop Shahbaz.

The West Bengal all-rounder could be looked at for the T20I squad. India can also try him out post the 2023 ODI World Cup. However, for now, it is best if India sticks to just two players for this role – Jadeja and Axar.
