Chennai Super Kings struggled with their combination in the first game against Gujarat Titans. This may continue for their next match also because some key foreigners will still not be available. CSK will next play Lucknow Super Giants at the Chepauk on Monday. Here, we take a look at three overseas players who will not be available for CSK against LSG due to International duties.
1) Maheesh Theekshana (New Zealand vs Sri Lanka T20I Series)
Theekshana is currently doing well for Sri Lanka against New Zealand in the T20I series. He is also the lead spinner for CSK. Especially at Chepauk, his services will be highly needed.
In this regard, Theekshana’s absence will be a big miss for the four-time champions. For now, CSK can use Mitchell Santner until Theekshana returns.
2) Matheesha Pathirana (New Zealand vs Sri Lanka T20I Series)
Matheesha Pathirana is one of the overseas players who will not be available for CSK against LSG due to International duties. The youngster came in as the replacement signing last year. CSK continued to have him on the roster.
Pathirana’s slinging action makes him different from many pacers. This could be used as a trump card when the likes of Pretorious fail to do well. Hence, having him on the team is also important for the Chennai-based outfit.
3) Sisanda Magala (South Africa vs Netherlands ODI Series)
Magala is Kyle Jamieson’s replacementt for CSK. The South African pacer is good at the death and can also strike a few big blows with the bat.
If you take a look at CSK’s current combination, they desperately need a reliable death-overs bowler. Magala is the best bet at the moment for the franchise. He can bowl quick and also has variations to trouble the batters. Hence, his absence will also be a big miss for MS Dhoni and co.
