3 Mumbai Indians cricketers who must get opportunities in the remaining games of IPL 2022

Mumbai Indians have used 18 players so far in IPL 2022. However, they are still to win a game, despite having got seven chances. MI has never seen such a barren run of form before. It is almost improbable now for the franchise to qualify for the playoffs. That said, the team can make use of the next seven games to plan for the future. While that will be an important agenda, winning a few matches and avoiding the wooden spoon will also be high on the wish-list of the franchise. In this article, we take a look at three Mumbai Indians cricketers who must get opportunities in the remaining games of IPL 2022.

1) Tim David

The dropping of Tim David after just two games is one of the strange decisions taken by MI so far. Tim was brought for over INR 8 Cr and not offering him opportunities is bizarre.

Knowing the potential of Tim, MI must now include him in the playing XI. At least to decide if they want to release him or not, MI should get to know more about the middle-order batter on the pitch. The player is a good cricketer and might do well in the future. Hence, the five-time champions must back him at the earliest.

2) Sanjay Yadav

Sanjay Yadav was expected to feature in the playing XI for Mumbai this season. However, the Tamil Nadu all-rounder is yet to get a game. That said, Sanjay is a multi-dimensional cricketer and could add a great deal of balance to the line-up.

MI certainly misses the services of Krunal Pandya and Sanjay is someone who can fill that role. In fact, the Tamil Nadu man can be a better hitter of the ball. With MI looking at the future, Sanjay is a player whom they can invest in.

3) Mayank Markhande

Mayank Markhande is one of the Mumbai Indians cricketers who must get opportunities in the remaining games of IPL 2022. Despite doing well in IPL a few seasons ago, the Punjab cricketer never got a consistent run in Rajasthan Royals after his stint in MI. Now, the leggie has returned to MI and it is Murugan Ashwin who has been preferred as the lead spinner.

However, Ashwin has looked very inconsistent and considering he is 31 years old, MI can plan their future with Mayank Markhande in the XI. Mayank is a quick wrist-spinner and he has the potential to do well. Hence, the management must give him a few games this season.
