3 former Indian cricketers India must target as the next bowling coach

India’s bowling performance in the SENA Nations in recent times has not been great. They are failing to pick wickets consistently, which was a trademark for the bowlers when they performed well in SENA Nations a few years ago. Maybe, changing things a bit could help the side. A new bowling coach could give a fresh perspective to the bowlers. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three former Indian cricketers India must target as the next bowling coach.

1) Zaheer Khan

Actually, Sourav Ganguly insisted Ravi Shastri take Zaheer Khan as the bowling coach under his tenure. However, that did not happen.

At the moment, Zaheer is with the Mumbai Indians. If BCCI can convince him to let go of his association and join Team India, it would be a major coup. Zaheer was a quality bowler for India and was one of the trendsetters. He has the experience of doing well abroad and is also aware of the latest trends. Hence, he would be a good choice for this role.

2) Bharat Arun

Bharat Arun is one of the former Indian cricketers India must target as the next bowling coach. Although he played very few games as a player for India, as a bowling coach, he had a terrific run.

It was under him that India enjoyed a good phase bowling abroad. He is someone who is aware of the grassroots level and that becomes important when backing players. Hence, Bharat Arun deserves to come back to the role.

3) Irfan Pathan

Irfan Pathan showed tremendous potential as a coach with his stint at Jammu & Kashmir. However, surprisingly, he is not doing similar roles now.

Pathan is a modern cricketer and has played for India recently. He will know the formula for success outside India. Therefore, he can be a good option for the side.
