Mark Wood and Gus Atkinson are two English cricketers who have already pulled out of IPL. It is not a surprise if we see some more names joining this list. England has such good depth in T20 cricket that a few players from the nation can also come in as replacement signings. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three English cricketers who could be replacement signings in IPL 2024.
1) Chris Jordan
Jordan‘s last two IPL franchises have been CSK and MI, the two most successful sides in the history of IPL. There is a reason why teams trust the veteran English cricketer.
He has already done well as a death-overs bowler for a few years now. Yes, he could leak runs but he has got the experience and variations to still do well. Plus, he is a handy batter in the lower order and one of the best fielders in the game.
2) Jamie Overton
Jamie Overton is one of the English cricketers who could be replacement signings in IPL 2024. Overton is yet to play in IPL but he is in good form and could land a contract for the upcoming season.
He did well in the recent BBL and is also bowling well in some of the other leagues. Apart from his strength with the ball, he is also a good hitter in the lower order. Teams like batting depth and Overton would be a perfect fit for such squads.
3) Phil Salt
Both before and after the auction day, Phil Salt scored an international T20I century. He can consider himself unlucky for not landing an IPL contract.
Nevertheless, he could still be in the fray. If any openers get ruled out, he could come in as the ideal choice. Especially after doing well in a few games last season, he deserves one chance.
