Surely, he would have seen some players closely and he could want them back in his squad for IPL 2025. 1) Abishek Porel
Abishek Porel was one of the surprise packages for Delhi in the last two seasons. He is a quality player and if he works on his power-hitting, he will become more dangerous in the future.
Having seen him closely, Ponting could target the Bengal lad. He is a left-handed batter and is a genuine wicket-keeper. He will tick a lot of boxes for the side. Ponting might want to have him onboard for IPL 2025.
2) Harry Brook
Harry Brook is one of the Delhi Capitals players Ricky Ponting might target for the Punjab Kings. The Englishman had to pull out of IPL 2024 due to personal reasons. Nevertheless, he will still be in demand for IPL 2025.
Surely, Ponting would have had a say when DC bid for the youngster in IPL 2024 Auctions. Punjab Kings needs some younger cricketers who can offer consistency. Harry Brook fits the bill and he is also a future captain material. Hence, Ponting could sign him up.
3) Mitchell Marsh
While Brook is a captaincy choice for the future, Mitchell Marsh can take over right away. Even when DC hired him at IPL 2022 Auctions, it was clear that Ponting was insistent about this signing.
Ponting might like an Aussie as the skipper and hence, he could opt for someone like Marsh. The all-rounder offers aggressive batting at the top and could also chip in with a few overs of medium-pace if required.
