3 bold retention calls Delhi Capitals could take before IPL 2025

Delhi Capitals now have a strong core and they can target to dominate for the next few seasons. However, they must be careful while deciding their retentions and at the same time, they must take some bold calls. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three bold retention calls Delhi Capitals could take before IPL 2025.

1) Retain Abishek Porel

Abishek Porel has already shown his skills and potential in the last two seasons of IPL. He did well as an opener, at No.3 and also as a finisher. He is a left-hander and a wicket-keeper, further adding depth and variety to the team.

Considering his age, he could easily go past INR 4 Cr in the Auctions. Hence, Delhi Capitals could retain him and give him the permanent role of an opener. It could go a long way in cementing the future of the side.

2) Release Jake Fraser-McGurk

Releasing Jake Fraser-McGurk is one of the bold retention calls Delhi Capitals could take before IPL 2025. The sample size is too small to retain a capped cricketer like JFM.

There is a high chance that Delhi can get him back. Yes, there is a risk of losing him but there are also other exciting options in the market. If JFM is retained and if he does not do well, the balance of the side will reduce.

3) Retain Khaleel Ahmed

It is hard to get a domestic left-arm pacer who can trouble the batters with the new ball. The likes of Arshdeep Singh and Yash Dayal are the only other reliable choices in India.

Delhi Capitals may not need more than INR 7 Cr to retain Khaleel. At the auctions, he could go for a higher fee. Hence, it does make sense to retain him and secure a slot in the pace department.
