Ahead of the IPL 2023, Rajasthan Royals were one of the hot favourites to win the IPL 2023. They played like champions in the first half of the tournament and were placed at the top of the points table. But in the second half, they lost games by narrow margins and in a drastic turn of events were knocked out of the competition.
3 Bold Releases Rajasthan Royals might do before IPL 2024
Rajasthan Royals ended the tournament 5th on the points table with 7 wins and 7 losses from the 14 games. It was a heartbreaking campaign for them this year but they would be hoping to make a staggering comeback next season. In this piece, we take a look at 3 Bold releases Rajasthan Royals might do before IPL 2024
Jason Holder
One of the bold releases Rajasthan Royals might have for the IPL 2024 is that they might let go of Jason Holder. The all-rounder was the biggest disappointment for them this year as he leaked a lot of runs with the ball and also didn’t bat well. RR invested 5.75 crores this season but he didn’t live up to the expectations as he scored just 12 runs in the 8 games and picked just four wickets at a poor economy of around 10. With him underperforming, Rajasthan Royals might release him ahead of IPL 2024.
Devdutt Padikkal
Another bold release that might be on the cards ahead of the IPL 2024 for Rajasthan Royals is that that can release Devdutt Padikkal. In the last two seasons, the franchise hasn’t used the batter properly. They have asked him to bat in the middle instead of opening which has seen him struggling. He looked clueless this year for most of the season as he managed just 261 runs in 11 runs. RR can release him next year and might rope in proper a middle order batter. This might even help the batter as he can take up opening roles for other franchises.
Mistakes we made this year.
{ A Thread}• Devdutt Padikkal, who is a very good opening batsman, but by moving him out of position, the batting order of the entire team got messed up.

Sandeep Sharma
Sandeep Sharma too might get released by the Rajasthan Royals ahead of the IPL 2024. The franchise acquired him as a replacement for Prasidh Krishna for this season. He did a great job this year but with Krishna likely to return next season, the franchise might end up releasing Sandeep, who picked 10 wickets in 12 games. RR have a set of great fast bowlers in the side and therefore they might retain young legs in place of Sharma.
