IPL franchises are coming down hard on players who withdraw after getting selected in the auctions for non-injury reasons. More often than not, the players do this when their auction bid is low. Now, BCCI could bring in a rule to ban these cricketers for two years if they withdraw for unknown reasons. Here, we take a look at three Australian cricketers who might not enter IPL 2025 Auctions if there is a ban on players for unclear withdrawal.
1) Adam Zampa
Adam Zampa has withdrawn from IPL on several occasions in the past although he was not injured. It happened when he was with RCB and also when he was with Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2024.
Zampa just does not make big bucks at the auction. The situation could remain the same. Even if he gets picked again, that would be a low amount. He could rather not enter the auctions rather than play for a low salary or withdraw and get banned.
2) Mitchell Starc
Starc is one of the Australian cricketers who might not enter IPL 2025 Auctions if there is a ban on players for unclear withdrawal. It was after a long gap that Starc played in IPL 2024.
He is never getting that salary again. Plus, he manages his workload very carefully. He might not want to put pressure on himself of honouring an IPL contract if he is not comfortable. Hence, he could stay away from the league.
3) Josh Hazlewood
For the two seasons that he was with RCB, Josh Hazlewood did not turn up for the franchise from the first game. It is understood if there was an injury cause but sometimes, the Aussie had some personal reasons, as well.
Considering his age and his fitness record, he may not go for a big sum at the auctions. For Josh, it may not be worth spending two months for a small salary. Therefore, he might rather stay away from the tournament.
