Sunrisers Hyderabad did well to reach the finals of IPL 2024. Despite some of the flaws in team construction, the brand of cricket displayed by SRH helped them to progress in the competition. Now, Daniel Vettori will want to make further improvements for the next campaign. Here, we take a look at the list of three acquisitions SRH should make at the IPL 2025 Mega Auctions.
1) A reliable Indian spinner
Both Mayank Markhande and Shahbaz Ahmed were inconsistent in IPL 2024. Washington Sundar hardly got a game in the season. This department was a big let-down for the franchise.
Considering the combination of the team, SRH would need a better Indian spinner in the line-up. They could target the likes of R Ashwin if they get released by their respective franchises.
2) An Indian middle-order batter
An Indian middle-order batter is one of the acquisitions SRH should make at the IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. Rahul Tripathi and Nitish Kumar Reddy are already available in this regard. However, SRH might need more experience to aid the likes of Klaasen.
Someone must step up to replace Abdul Samad in the line-up. There will be a lot of choices for SRH to consider in the auctions. The likes of Shashank Singh, Ashutosh Sharma or Nitish Rana could be realistic options for the team.
3) An Indian hit-the-deck specialist
Pat Cummins already does well in this regard. However, Pat might be needed in the other phases of the game, as well. Hence, SRH will want an Indian to hit the deck hard consistently.
Umran Malik was not trusted much in IPL 2024. SRH will look at options such as Prasidh Krishna for this role. Even if they can get someone new, that would also be fine. The team must also have an eye on the future because Bhuvneshwar Kumar does not have a lot of years left in his peak.
