So far in the IPL, English and Australian players have held a key role. However, the trend is now changing. In fact, some IPL franchises may not have a single Australian or English cricketer in their preferred playing XI. Here, we take a look at the list of three teams which might not have an Australian or English player in the preferred playing 11 in IPL 2025.
1) Mumbai Indians
Trent Boult and Mitchell Santner will be key players in the MI XI. Mujeeb Ur Rahman could come in as the other spinner for the side.
Ryan Rickelton is in great form and since he is a left-hander, he could be preferred over Will Jacks in the playing XI. At least to start with, the South African man will be the fourth overseas for MI.
2) Lucknow Super Giants might not have a player from England Australia in the main playing XI of IPL 2025
LSG is one of the teams which might not have an Australian or English player in the preferred playing 11 in IPL 2025. Nicholas Pooran and David Miller will be the key overseas players for LSG.
For his experience and the stability he gives, Aiden Markram takes up a slot. Mitchell Marsh’s fitness is not sure and at the same time, Matthew Breetzke is in fine form. Since he is a regular top-order player, he could play for LSG ahead of Marsh.
