The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League has not been completed yet, and the excitement bar for next year’s Indian Premier League season is already rising. Some of the recent news regarding IPL 2022 has excited the entire cricketing community. The reports are depicting that the tender process for the new sides will begin in the mid-August window. Later the new franchises will be introduced during October 2021, with December 2021 holding the mega auction.
However, it would be interesting to see which two sides are added. There are so many options based on cities, with Ahmedabad being the top contender. The reason behind it is Ahmedabad is now home to the world’s largest cricket stadium – the Narendra Modi Stadium.
As per Insidesport, the tenders will give the potential bidders options of 8 to 10 cities to choose from for the new IPL teams. Ahmedabad, Pune, Lucknow, Kanpur, Guwahati, Indore, Kochi, Raipur, and Trivandrum will be some of the cities that will be in contention for the two slots.
The new retention rules for next season have also come out. The teams can maximum retain four players with a combination of 3 Indians and one foreign player. The franchise can also go for 2 Indians and two international stars based on their tactics.
Phase 2 of IPL 2021 will take place in UAE
Phase 2 of IPL 2021 might kickstart from September 17 in UAE. The league will begin from where it got ended last. It would be interesting to see which side lifts the trophy.
