2 signings Sunrisers Hyderabad forcibly made in IPL 2024 Auctions

At times, franchises make some decisions in the auction which has an adverse effect on their future on the bidding table. One correct or wrong signing could change the tactics altogether. Sunrisers Hyderabad is one side that had to endure it in the IPL 2024 Auctions. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two signings Sunrisers Hyderabad were forced to make in IPL 2024 Auctions.

1) Akash Singh

In the existing squad for SRH, Marco Jansen was supposed to open the bowling with Bhuvneshwar Kumar. However, SRH went beyond INR 20 Cr for the signing of Pat Cummins. It won’t be a surprise if he event gets appointed as the skipper. Basically, Cummins is surely a part of the playing XI.

With this move, Marco Jansen cannot play as SRH cannot afford two foreign pacers in the XI. Pat Cummins is better used in the middle overs, especially with the new rule of two bouncers per over. Therefore, SRH was desperate to sign a decent new-ball partner for Bhuvi. Here is where they landed Akash Singh, who had a decent run with the new ball for CSK in IPL 2023.

2) Jaydev Unadkat

Jaydev Unadkat is one of the signings Sunrisers Hyderabad were forced to make in the recent IPL 2024 Auctions. Similar to Akash Singh, even Jaydev Unadkat was signed for this reason alone. In fact, SRH also tried for Umesh Yadav but Gujarat Titans eventually signed the cricketer.

Nevertheless, Jaydev can be a good option for SRH. He brings experience and with his height, he can be used to bowl some bouncers in the middle overs. He would also be a good backup for T Natarajan, who is prone to injuries. If he is in the playing XI, his batting skills can also be used to add good depth to the batting department.
