IPL 2023 Auctions ended on December 23rd in Kochi. While it was expected that big money would be spent, the auctions actually exceeded expectations. Interestingly, a few players who were released by their teams just a few weeks ago found better contracts at the auctions. This shows the dynamics of IPL Auctions which has made the tournament interesting. On that note, Here, we take a look at two players who will earn more in IPL 2023 than in IPL 2022 despite getting released before auctions.
1) Nicholas Pooran
INR 10.75 Cr in IPL 2022 (SRH) and INR 16 Cr in IPL 2023 (LSG)
Nicholas Pooran is one player who has not done justice to his talent in IPL. Although he was decent in IPL 2022, Sunrisers Hyderabad decided to release him. However, Pooran won’t be complaining as he will be earning almost 60% more money next season.
Lucknow desperately needed a left-hander in the middle order. They finally made that acquisition by spending big on Pooran. With this move, the franchise will not have much to worry about spin-threat in the middle overs as Pooran can take on them with ease.

2) N Jagadeesan will earn more in IPL 2023 than last season
INR 0.2 Cr in IPL 2022 (CSK) and INR 0.9 Cr in IPL 2023 (KKR)
N Jagadeesan is one of the players who will earn more in IPL 2023 than in IPL 2022 despite getting released before auctions. Soon after Chennai Super Kings released Jagadeesan, the player started to perform well in domestic tournaments. While he was terrific in Vijay Hazare Trophy, he further proved his hitting skills in the Ranji Trophy.
Kolkata needed a domestic keeper and hence, they went for Jagadeesan. The Tamil Nadu opener will now earn almost four times the money that he was getting at CSK. More importantly, he could get to open for the franchise and might also get a consistent run at the top of the order.
